The Unsung Hero Award will be given to one individual who demonstrates exceptional service to the patients or the organisation above and beyond the normal expectations placed upon them. They will have gone ‘the extra mile’ to either ensure patient safety, patient satisfaction or the delivery of a particular corporate objective.

Innovation – Clinical Area


The Innovation – Clinical Area Award will be given to an individual or team in a clinical area who demonstrates an innovative way of thinking. The award recognises the efforts of a new or improved process, program or initiate with a demonstrated improvement in quality, service, financial operations and/or safety. The results must be measurable and show positive outcomes. Either an individual or a team may be nominated for this award. A team is comprised of three or more team members, including the Team Leader and can be cross functional or work-unit based, but within a clinical area. If nominating a team, one person on the team must be designate as Team Leader.

Patient Experience


The Exceptional Patient Experience Award will be given to one individual who demonstrates the finer ideals of caring through extraordinary service to patients, families, physicians and co-workers. The awards recognises an individual who exhibits a deep understanding and compassion for people, promotes cohesive teamwork and goes above and beyond the expectations of his/her assigned role. The individual must strive to empower others to achieve their potential and consistently deliver the “Exceptional Patient Experience”.

Research Award


The advancement of healthcare is a key goal of the hospital group.  While state of the art care is delivered to patients, there is also a need to develop new approaches to help patients with conditions of unmet medical need.  The Research Award will be given to one individual or team who have made a substantive contribution to research within the Saolta University Health Care Group. The award recognises a person or team whose research and findings have improved patient / staff safety; patient care and experience; or quality of service in line with the Group’s Guiding Values. Either an individual or a team may be nominated for this award. A team is comprised of three or more team members, including the Team Leader and can be cross functional or work-unit based. If nominating a team, one person on the team must be designate as Team Leader.

Quality Improvement


The Quality Improvement Award will be given to an individual or team whose efforts supported the Saolta University Health Care Group’s goals of quality. This individual / team must have collaborated towards a common quality improvement goal and contributed to the success of the organisation. The award recognises a person or team whose quality improvement has improved patient / staff safety; patient care and experience; or quality of service in line with the Group’s Guiding Values. Either an individual or a team may be nominated for this award. A team is comprised of three or more team members, including the Team Leader and can be cross functional or work-unit based. If nominating a team, one person on the team must be designate as Team Leader.

Education and Training Award

The Saolta University Health Care Group CEO Award for Excellence in Education and Teaching will be presented in recognition of outstanding teaching in the hospital group. This award is open to either individual or team nominations. Consideration will be given to those nominees who have demonstrated outstanding teaching prowess and who have served as role models and mentors to any members of staff. Either an individual or a team may be nominated for this award. A team is comprised of three or more team members, including the Team Leader and can be cross functional or work-unit based.
